About Buick Excelle GT

The Buick Excelle GT, known as Yinglang in China, is a compact four-door sedan produced by SAIC-GM primarily for the Chinese market from 2010 to 2023. It joined the range as a more modern and upmarket alternative to the original Excelle, while remaining below larger Buick sedans such as the Verano and Regal. Its main roles were everyday family transport and urban commuting.

The first generation arrived in 2010 alongside the Excelle XT hatchback. Built on GM’s Delta II compact-car architecture, it combined Buick styling with a conventional front-wheel-drive layout. Available powertrains included naturally aspirated 1.6- and 1.8-litre petrol engines and a sportier turbocharged 1.6-litre unit, depending on model year and trim.

A second generation followed in 2015 with a sedan-only body and a stronger focus on space, efficiency and affordability. Over its production run, it was offered with several naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines, manual, automatic and dual-clutch transmissions, and later a 48-volt mild-hybrid option. Updates brought revised exterior details, connectivity features and changes to the engine range.

The Excelle GT became known as one of Buick’s mainstream volume sedans in China. Its appeal centred on a practical cabin, restrained styling, accessible pricing and a comfort-oriented character rather than overt performance or luxury.
