About Buick Electra E5
The Buick Electra E5 is a five-seat electric mid-size SUV developed for the Chinese market. Launched in April 2023, it was Buick’s first production model in China based on General Motors’ Ultium electric-vehicle platform and introduced the brand’s modern PURE design language. Production takes place at SAIC-GM’s Wuhan plant.
The E5 remains in its first generation. The original range included standard- and long-range front-wheel-drive versions, plus an Avenir model with all-wheel drive and additional luxury equipment. A substantially refreshed E5 arrived in June 2025 with revised styling, updated battery and motor technology, new cabin functions and three available variants. Its maximum official range is 620 km under China’s CLTC test cycle.
Within Buick’s Chinese lineup, the Electra E5 serves as a mainstream electric family SUV with an emphasis on comfort and refinement rather than overtly sporting performance. Notable qualities include a 2,954 mm wheelbase, a flat and spacious rear cabin, flexible luggage capacity and a large curved infotainment display.
