About Bugatti W16 Mistral
The Bugatti W16 Mistral is a two-seat open-top hypercar unveiled in 2022. It was developed as the road-going farewell to Bugatti’s W16 engine and as the brand’s first series-production roadster since the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. Its design and structure were engineered specifically for open-top use rather than created by simply removing the roof from a Chiron.
Power comes from an 8.0-litre, quad-turbocharged W16 producing 1,600 PS. This engine specification is related to that used in the Chiron Super Sport 300+, placing the Mistral among Bugatti’s most powerful and exclusive road cars. The model combines very high performance with a bespoke cabin, advanced aerodynamics and extensive owner-selected personalisation.
Production ran from 2024 to 2026 and was limited to 99 customer cars, all allocated before deliveries began. The Mistral was not offered in a conventional trim range; individual examples vary mainly through colours, materials and Sur Mesure custom details. A separate one-off World Record Car reached 453.91 km/h in November 2024, setting a speed record for an open-top car.
Within Bugatti’s lineup, the W16 Mistral sits alongside the Chiron-derived special models as a highly collectible limited-production flagship. It is best known for combining roadster driving with the final road-legal application of the brand’s long-running W16 powertrain.
