About Bugatti Veyron
The Bugatti Veyron is a two-seat, mid-engined hypercar produced in Molsheim, France, from 2005 to 2015. It established the technical direction of the modern Bugatti brand and preceded the Chiron. The Veyron combined extreme performance with the refinement, materials and craftsmanship expected of a high-end grand touring car.
Its 16.4 designation refers to the 16-cylinder engine and four turbochargers. The original Veyron 16.4 used an 8.0-litre W16 producing 1,001 PS, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and permanent all-wheel drive. Advanced aerodynamics, dedicated high-speed tyres and extensive cooling systems helped make speeds above 400 km/h practical under controlled conditions.
The range began with the fixed-roof Veyron 16.4 and expanded to include the open-top Grand Sport. The Super Sport increased output to 1,200 PS and set a production-car speed record, while the Grand Sport Vitesse brought the higher-output specification to the roadster body. Bugatti also created numerous limited editions with distinctive colours, materials and design themes.
Production was restricted to 450 cars: 300 coupés and 150 roadsters. This rarity, combined with record-setting performance and complex engineering, placed the Veyron at the top of the global collector-car market. It remains best known for redefining the capabilities of a road-legal production car.
