About Bugatti EB110
The Bugatti EB110 is a mid-engined supercar developed during the marque’s Italian revival under Romano Artioli. Unveiled in Paris in 1991, it was named in honour of company founder Ettore Bugatti and the 110th anniversary of his birth. Production took place at a purpose-built factory in Campogalliano, near Modena, until the company ceased operations in 1995.
Its engineering was highly advanced for the period. The EB110 combined a carbon-fibre monocoque with permanent all-wheel drive, a six-speed manual gearbox and a 3.5-litre V12 using four turbochargers. This layout delivered strong acceleration and very high maximum speeds while providing greater traction than many contemporary rear-wheel-drive supercars. Scissor doors and a low, compact coupé body added to its distinctive character.
The main versions were the EB110 GT and the later EB110 Super Sport. The GT balanced performance with grand-touring refinement, while the Super Sport reduced weight, increased power and adopted a more focused specification. Competition derivatives were also produced in very small numbers. Total factory production amounted to roughly 130 cars, making every version rare.
As Bugatti’s flagship of the early 1990s, the EB110 is known for technical ambition, limited production and its role in re-establishing the brand as a maker of exceptionally fast road cars before the later Veyron era.
