About BMW X2
The BMW X2 is a compact premium crossover with a coupé-influenced profile. Introduced for the 2018 model year, it brought BMW’s Sports Activity Coupé concept to the compact class. It occupies the style-led end of the brand’s small SUV range, sitting alongside the more conventionally shaped X1 and below the larger X4 and X6.
The first-generation X2, known by the F39 model code, combined a low roofline and distinctive exterior details with the raised driving position and versatility expected from an X model. Depending on the market, versions included petrol and diesel engines, front- or all-wheel drive, and the higher-performance M35i xDrive.
The second generation, designated U10, entered worldwide markets in March 2024. It grew substantially and adopted a more pronounced coupé silhouette, a modern digital cockpit and updated driver-assistance technology. Its range includes conventional combustion-engine models, the M35i xDrive performance version and, in selected markets, the fully electric iX2.
Produced at BMW Group Plant Regensburg in Germany, the X2 is known for combining compact dimensions, expressive styling and sport-oriented road manners. It is aimed at buyers who prefer a more distinctive shape than a traditional compact SUV while retaining everyday usability and the elevated character of BMW’s X range.
