About BMW M8
The BMW M8 is the high-performance flagship of the 8 Series and one of the most powerful luxury models developed by BMW M. The production model arrived in 2019, nearly three decades after an earlier M8 prototype based on the E31-generation 8 Series was created but never offered for sale. The production range represents a single generation, identified by the F91, F92 and F93 model codes.
Three body styles were produced: the two-door Coupé, the fabric-roof Convertible and the four-door Gran Coupé. Standard M8 and more powerful M8 Competition versions were initially available in some markets, with later ranges centred on the Competition specification. All combine a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with an eight-speed automatic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive.
Positioned above models such as the M3, M4 and M5 in price and luxury focus, the M8 blends sports-car performance with grand-touring comfort. It is known for rapid acceleration, a configurable drivetrain, adaptive suspension and an interior designed for long-distance refinement. The Coupé has the most traditional grand-tourer profile, the Convertible adds open-air motoring, and the Gran Coupé offers greater passenger space and everyday practicality. Development also drew on experience from the M8 GTE endurance racing programme.
