About BMW M6

The BMW M6 is the high-performance interpretation of BMW’s large 6 Series grand tourer. Its lineage began with the E24-based M635CSi in 1983; in some markets, the related model carried the M6 name. Positioned above regular 6 Series variants, it combined long-distance comfort and premium equipment with engines, chassis tuning, brakes and styling developed by BMW M.

The second generation was offered as the E63 coupe and E64 convertible from 2005 until production ended in 2010. It is particularly known for its high-revving, naturally aspirated V10 engine. The third generation arrived in 2012 and expanded the range to the F13 coupe, F12 convertible and four-door F06 Gran Coupe. These models used a twin-turbocharged V8 and rear-wheel drive, while Competition versions provided greater output and sharper performance.

Across its generations, the M6 has been defined by high-speed grand touring ability rather than a stripped-back sports-car approach. Notable qualities include strong acceleration, refined cabins, distinctive but restrained styling and, on later coupe and Gran Coupe models, a carbon-fibre roof. Third-generation production ended in 2018, leaving the M6 as a discontinued but significant part of BMW M’s luxury performance range.
