About BMW 7 Series
The BMW 7 Series is the brand’s flagship luxury sedan, introduced in 1977 as the successor to BMW’s earlier large executive models. Positioned above the 5 Series, it combines a formal four-door body with an emphasis on comfort, performance and driver-focused handling. Production has long been centred at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in Germany.
Across seven generations, the 7 Series has served as a showcase for BMW technology, interior design and engineering. Depending on generation and market, the range has included standard- and long-wheelbase bodies, rear- or all-wheel drive, six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder engines, diesels and plug-in hybrids. Major versions have carried designations such as 745i, 750i, 760i and M760, while specialised protection models have also been produced.
The seventh generation broadened the range with the fully electric BMW i7 and adopted a long-wheelbase body worldwide. The model is known for its spacious and refined cabin, strong long-distance ability, advanced infotainment and driver-assistance systems, and balance of ride comfort and controlled handling. It competes in the full-size luxury sedan class and remains BMW’s principal platform for introducing features that may later appear elsewhere in the line-up.
