About BMW 6 Series
The BMW 6 Series is a range of premium grand tourers and executive cars known for combining long-distance comfort with sporting road manners. Introduced in 1976, the original E24 was a large two-door coupé that succeeded BMW’s earlier E9 models. It remained in production until 1989, after which the 6 Series name was absent for more than a decade.
BMW revived the model in 2003 with the E63 Coupé, followed by the E64 Convertible. A third generation arrived in 2011, expanding the range to include Coupé, Convertible and four-door Gran Coupé body styles. Depending on version and market, buyers could choose from six-cylinder, V8 and diesel engines, along with rear- or all-wheel drive. High-performance M6 variants provided the most powerful and track-focused interpretation.
From 2017, the 6 Series name was also applied to the G32 Gran Turismo, a five-door fastback developed as the successor to the 5 Series Gran Turismo. This version prioritised passenger space, luggage capacity and refined motorway travel. Production of the 6 Series nameplate ended in 2023.
Positioned above BMW’s core saloons and below its flagship luxury models, the 6 Series was distinguished by elegant proportions, high-quality interiors, strong performance and a focus on comfortable high-speed touring.
