About Bentley Continental T
The Bentley Continental T is a high-performance luxury coupé produced from 1996 to 2002. Developed as the more sporting member of the Continental R family, it used a wheelbase shortened by 102 mm, giving it sharper proportions and more responsive handling, while reducing rear-seat legroom. It occupied an exclusive position in Bentley’s range as a driver-focused grand tourer rather than a conventional luxury saloon.
Power came from Bentley’s turbocharged 6.75-litre V8, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Early cars produced 400 bhp, with later versions receiving increased output and torque. Larger brakes, flared wheel arches and a firmer chassis distinguished the T from the longer Continental R. Its cabin combined traditional leather and carpeting with sporting details such as turned-metal trim, chrome instruments and a separate starter button.
The main variations were the standard Continental T and the later Continental T Mulliner, which added more focused suspension tuning and further scope for individual specification. Built in small numbers, the model is known for combining substantial low-speed torque, long-distance comfort and hand-finished luxury with a more compact, assertive character than other Bentley coupés of its period.
