About Bentley Brooklands
The Bentley Brooklands name was used for two distinct luxury cars. The first was a large four-door saloon introduced in 1993 as the replacement for the Mulsanne series. Named after the historic Brooklands motor-racing circuit in England, it combined traditional Bentley styling and craftsmanship with a rear-wheel-drive chassis and a 6.75-litre V8 engine.
Early saloons used a naturally aspirated version of the V8, while the more powerful turbocharged Brooklands R followed in 1996. The range also included long-wheelbase cars for greater rear-seat space. Within Bentley’s 1990s line-up, the Brooklands provided a refined alternative to the more performance-focused Turbo R and remained in production until the Arnage arrived in 1998.
Bentley revived the name for a very different model unveiled in 2007, with customer deliveries beginning in 2008. This Brooklands was a limited-production, four-seat grand touring coupé based on the Arnage platform. No more than 550 examples were planned, with the final car completed in January 2010.
The coupé featured pillarless bodywork, a hand-finished Mulliner interior and a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V8. It is known for combining substantial power and torque with long-distance comfort, traditional materials and unusually generous passenger space for a two-door car. The Brooklands coupé occupied a particularly exclusive position above Bentley’s higher-volume Continental GT.
