About Bentley Bacalar
The Bentley Bacalar is a two-seat, roofless barchetta grand tourer created by Bentley Mulliner, the marque’s personal commissioning and coachbuilding division. Revealed in 2020, it marked Mulliner’s return to producing fully coachbuilt modern cars and became the first in a new series of highly limited bespoke projects. Its name refers to Laguna Bacalar in Mexico.
Production was restricted to 12 customer cars, all allocated by the time of the public unveiling and handcrafted at Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England. There were no conventional trim levels or series-production variants. Instead, every Bacalar was individually commissioned, with unique colours, materials and details selected with its owner. The final four cars were undergoing preparation for delivery in August 2022.
Designed as an open-air, driver-focused Bentley, the Bacalar has no roof and uses a two-seat cockpit with a dedicated rear luggage area. Its 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine produces 659 PS and is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Distinctive features include bespoke bodywork, broad rear haunches, 22-inch wheels and an interior combining traditional craftsmanship with unusual materials such as Riverwood veneer. Within Bentley’s range, the Bacalar sat above regular production models as a rare coachbuilt flagship, known chiefly for its scarcity, individual specification and blend of grand-touring performance with open-air design.
