About Bentley Arnage
The Bentley Arnage is a large four-door luxury saloon built at Crewe, England, from 1998 to 2009. Named after a corner of the Le Mans circuit, it replaced Bentley’s earlier Turbo R-era saloons as the brand’s flagship. It arrived during the transition from Vickers ownership to Volkswagen Group stewardship and remained a low-volume, largely hand-built model even as the Continental range expanded Bentley’s sales.
Early cars used a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged BMW V8 and were later identified as the Arnage Green Label. The Red Label introduced Bentley’s traditional 6.75-litre turbocharged V8, which became central to the model’s identity. From 2002, the range included the comfort-oriented Arnage R and the more powerful, sportier Arnage T. The Arnage RL added a longer wheelbase and greater rear-seat space, while the limited Final Series marked the end of production.
The Arnage is known for its formal proportions, rear-wheel drive, abundant torque and richly finished cabin with leather, wood veneer and traditional craftsmanship. Its character combines limousine-like comfort with a stronger driver focus than many luxury saloons of its era. It represents the final generation of Bentley’s traditional Crewe-built flagship before the Mulsanne took its place.
