About Aston Martin Lagonda
The Aston Martin Lagonda is a four-door luxury saloon produced in limited numbers from 1974 to 1990. It gave Aston Martin a flagship alternative to its two-door grand tourers, combining strong V8 performance with greater cabin space and an emphasis on rear-seat comfort. The first version was closely related to the contemporary Aston Martin V8 and only seven examples were built.
A radically different Lagonda appeared in 1976. Designed by William Towns, it became known for its long, low wedge-shaped body, concealed headlamps and advanced electronic instruments and touch-sensitive controls. Deliveries began in 1979, and the car attracted particular interest in the Middle East before entering the US market in the early 1980s.
The model evolved through several series, with changes to its dashboard electronics, trim and exterior details. A 1987 update softened the original sharp-edged design, replaced the pop-up headlamps and added new wheels. Tickford versions offered more elaborate bodywork and upgraded interiors, while a very rare long-wheelbase limousine provided additional rear space.
Hand-built in small numbers, the Lagonda occupied an unusual position among high-end saloons. It is chiefly remembered for bold styling, technical ambition, a spacious handcrafted cabin and its distinctive role as Aston Martin’s most unconventional four-door model.
