About Aston Martin DB9

The Aston Martin DB9 is a V12-powered grand tourer produced from 2004 to 2016. Unveiled in 2003 as the successor to the DB7, it introduced a new generation of Aston Martin design and engineering. It was the first production model built at the company’s Gaydon headquarters and the first to use its bonded-aluminium VH architecture.

Offered as a 2+2 coupé and the open-top DB9 Volante, the model combined sports-car performance with the comfort and luggage capacity expected of a long-distance GT. Its front-mounted V12 drove the rear wheels, with early cars available with either manual or automatic transmission. Power, chassis tuning, styling and cabin technology were revised several times during production.

Notable variations included the DB9 LM, Carbon Black editions and other limited-run specifications. The DB9 GT arrived near the end of production as the most powerful regular version. Equipment and specifications differed by model year and market.

Within Aston Martin’s range, the DB9 served as the core DB-series grand tourer, positioned above the smaller Vantage while the DBS and Vanquish offered a more focused or exclusive alternative. It is known for its balanced proportions, aluminium construction, naturally aspirated V12 character and restrained luxury. The DB11 replaced it for the 2017 model year.
