About Aston Martin DB11
The Aston Martin DB11 is a front-engined grand tourer introduced in 2016 as the successor to the DB9. It became the first core model in the brand’s “Second Century” programme and marked a major technical change, introducing a new bonded-aluminium platform and Aston Martin’s first turbocharged series-production engine. Built at Gaydon in the UK, it occupied the central GT position in the range, between the smaller Vantage sports car and more focused flagship models.
The DB11 was produced as a two-door 2+2 Coupé and as the fabric-roof Volante convertible. Early Coupé models used a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12, while a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 joined the range in 2017. The open-top Volante was offered with the V8. The DB11 AMR later replaced the original V12 version, adding more power and sharper chassis tuning while retaining the car’s long-distance character.
Known for combining strong performance with refinement, the DB11 places greater emphasis on comfort and touring ability than a dedicated sports car. Its notable features include an eight-speed automatic transmission, adaptive driving modes, distinctive aerodynamic detailing and a hand-finished cabin. The DB12 succeeded it in 2023.
