About Alfa Romeo MiTo
The Alfa Romeo MiTo is a three-door supermini introduced in 2008 and sold through 2018. Designed in Milan and built in Turin, its name combines the Italian names Milano and Torino. It brought Alfa Romeo into the premium small-car class, providing a more compact and accessible alternative to the brand’s larger hatchbacks and saloons.
Known for distinctive Italian styling, frameless side windows and a driver-focused character, the MiTo drew visual inspiration from the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Its Alfa D.N.A. system allowed the driver to alter settings such as throttle response, steering assistance and stability control. The cabin and compact dimensions were suited to urban use, while the chassis was tuned to maintain the sporting identity associated with the brand.
The range included petrol, diesel and, in some markets, LPG versions, with manual or TCT dual-clutch transmissions depending on the engine and model year. Notable engines included TwinAir and MultiAir petrol units. Higher-performance versions carried the Quadrifoglio Verde name, later replaced by Veloce in some markets, while other trim levels focused on style, equipment or economy. Updates in 2013 and 2016 refreshed the design, technology and model range without changing the MiTo’s basic three-door format.
