About Alfa Romeo GT

The Alfa Romeo GT is a front-wheel-drive two-door grand tourer produced from 2003 to 2010. Styled by Bertone and built in Italy, it combined a low coupé profile with a large rear hatch, rear seats and useful luggage space. This made it more practical than many sports coupés of its period. It was also the final production Alfa Romeo designed by Bertone.

The GT used architecture and components shared with the 156 saloon and 147 hatchback. Its cabin had close links to the 147, while its chassis was related to the 156. Within Alfa Romeo’s early-2000s range, it provided a style-focused touring model that balanced sporty handling with everyday usability.

Engine availability varied by country and model year. The range included 1.8-litre Twin Spark and 2.0-litre JTS four-cylinder petrol engines, a 1.9-litre JTD or JTDM turbodiesel, and the flagship 3.2-litre V6. Manual transmissions were widely offered, while some 2.0 JTS versions used the Selespeed automated manual. Later variations included Blackline, Q2 and Cloverleaf models, with market-specific equipment, trim and styling.

The GT is best known for its distinctive Bertone bodywork, driver-focused road manners and unusual combination of coupé styling and hatchback versatility. It served as a more spacious companion to the compact 147 and a more style-led alternative to the 156.
