About Alfa Romeo Giulietta
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta name has been used for three distinct model lines, each combining everyday usability with the brand’s sporting character. The original Giulietta arrived in 1954 as a compact, more accessible Alfa Romeo. It began with the Bertone-styled Sprint coupé and expanded to include the Berlina saloon, Pininfarina Spider, estate and specialist high-performance versions such as the Sprint Speciale and SZ.
A second Giulietta, produced from 1977 to 1985, was a four-door saloon based on the Alfetta’s rear-wheel-drive architecture. Its rear-mounted transaxle helped provide balanced weight distribution, while its angular styling reflected Alfa Romeo’s design direction during that period. It occupied the brand’s compact executive saloon class before being replaced by the Alfa Romeo 75.
The name returned in 2010 for a five-door compact hatchback and remained in production until 2020. This version served as Alfa Romeo’s principal family hatchback, offering petrol and diesel engines, manual or dual-clutch transmissions in selected markets, and several trim levels. Sportier variants included the Quadrifoglio Verde, later renamed Veloce, while Sprint editions added distinctive styling. The modern Giulietta is chiefly known for its Italian design, concealed rear door handles, responsive handling and Alfa D.N.A. selectable driving modes.
