About Alfa Romeo Brera
The Alfa Romeo Brera is a 2+2 sports coupé produced from 2005 to 2010. It developed the themes of Giorgetto Giugiaro’s acclaimed 2002 Brera concept into a series-production grand tourer closely related to the Alfa Romeo 159. Within the brand’s range, it served as a distinctive, style-led coupé, combining sporting character with greater comfort and substance than a lightweight sports car.
The Brera is recognised for its broad stance, tapered rear bodywork, triple-lens headlamps and driver-focused cabin. Its rear seats provide limited space, so the car is generally better suited to two occupants with occasional extra accommodation. Selected versions featured the Sky View glass roof, while TI, Italia Independent and the UK-market Brera S offered alternative styling or chassis specifications.
Engine availability varied by year and country. Petrol options included the 2.2 JTS and 3.2-litre V6 JTS, followed later by the turbocharged 1750 TBi. Diesel models used 2.4 JTDM and, in later production, 2.0 JTDM engines. Most versions had front-wheel drive, while Q4 all-wheel drive was available on selected V6 cars. Manual and automatic transmissions were offered depending on the model.
The Brera is best known for its Giugiaro-influenced design, substantial road presence and grand-touring character. Its position in Alfa Romeo’s modern line-up rested more on visual distinction and everyday refinement than outright practicality or minimal weight.
