About Acura ZDX
The Acura ZDX name has been used for two very different premium crossovers. The original model, sold for the 2010–2013 model years, was a five-seat, petrol-powered crossover with a steeply sloped roof and coupe-like profile. Positioned above the MDX at launch, it combined a 3.7-litre V6, a six-speed automatic transmission and standard Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. Its low roofline reduced some rear-seat and cargo practicality, but the distinctive shape, premium cabin and road-oriented handling made it one of Acura’s most unconventional models.
Acura revived the name for the 2024 model year on its first battery-electric vehicle. This second ZDX was a larger two-row premium SUV developed through Honda’s collaboration with General Motors and based on a dedicated EV platform. It was offered as the A-Spec with either rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive, and as the higher-performance Type S with dual motors, all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension and Brembo front brakes.
Within Acura’s range, the electric ZDX served as a technology and performance flagship rather than a high-volume family SUV. It was known for strong acceleration, a spacious cabin, Google built-in connectivity and bold styling influenced by the Acura Precision EV Concept. The revived model had a short market run and is no longer part of Acura’s new-vehicle lineup.
